SHREWSBURY, Massachusetts – It was a close call today as a car leaving Shrewsbury High School, allegedly driven by an SHS Junior, flipped over on Gulf Street, just east of the intersection of Cypress Ave. The vehicle appeared to have glanced off a tree, based on just the observation of a tree at the scene with a chunk missing from it. Shrewsbury Police, Fire and Worcester EMS rushed to the scene. I arrived just after it happened, as I was on my way home from SHS anyway, so I had a chance to speak to some of the folks who were there. Reports from witnesses are that the occupants were shaken up, but unharmed, which is wonderful to hear, as it could have been a lot worse.
Please be extra careful everyone. The roads this time of year are very slick and obviously dangerous. Gulf is a really, really narrow road, at the best of times, which is why many choose to leave the school out onto Main Street. I’m choosing not to release the name of the driver at this time, but the most important thing is that all seem to be ok. Be safe folks.
