SHREWSBURY, Massachusetts – Do you ever find yourself watching Jeopardy! and think “I could go on that show!”? Do you ever watch The Amazing Race and get an itch to learn about different cultures? Do you like free family events complete with prizes and pizza? Well, the Shrewsbury Public Library might have just the answer for you and your family. On January 29th at 6:30PM, the young adult department will host the second ‘Amazing Trivia Battle’, a ten round elimination based trivia game for families. 100 questions will be asked varying from just about every category you can think of, working from ten mystery cultures. The last trivia event, held this past fall, took a crowded room of contestants from Shrewsbury to Japan, Madagascar, Russia, India, as well as five other exciting locales. Whether you know all of the amendments in the constitution, or all of the members of the music group One Direction, there is surely something you’ll know in this competitive and educational journey. Teams can be made up of up to six people of any age; however the questions are geared towards older middle and high school students, and adults. There are also round-by-round eliminations, which will eventually leave one winning team to take home a great prize sponsored by Dunkin’ Donuts of Shrewsbury.
The event is completely free, including free pizza for contestants, but registration is required in advance, and space is limited. Those that do not register will not be able to participate. Register your team (not individually) by visiting the SPL website (www.shrewsbury-ma.gov/library) and finding the post on the event calendar, or by calling the Library at 508-842-0081 ext. 5 (If you call and leave a voicemail be sure to leave an e-mail address for one member on your team – you are not confirmed in the event until you receive an e-mail stating you were added to the competition.).
We hope to see many families participating in this fun event!
