Shrewsbury Fire Department Battles House Blaze

IMG952538 224x300 Shrewsbury Fire Department Battles House Blaze Shrewsbury MassachusettsSHREWSBURY, Massachusetts – The Shrewsbury Fire Department responded to the scene of a building Fire reported at 12 Salisbury Street (off Rt. 20 near Edgemere). Upon arrival, there was heavy fire reported on left side of home, with the 3-season porch totally engulfed in flames. The Fire Department received the call a 1:53am on Sunday (8/25/2013). Engines arrived at 1:56am and the bulk of the fire was quickly extinguished at approximately 2:02am.

Captain Sean Lawlor was the incident commander and investigated the fire along with the MA State Fire Marshal’s office. Westboro Fire Department responded to the scene to provide mutual aid. Boylston and Northboro Fire Departments provided station coverage for headquarters and Station 2. No injuries were reported to either civilians or emergency responders. Residents were displaced due to damage and lack of electricity.

The fire appears to have started on the 3-season porch and the cause is still under investigation.
