Celebrated Composer returns to Shrewsbury

gw-fullcolorSHREWSBURY, Massachusetts – The renown New England composer Gwyneth Walker will be attending the 9:30 AM worship service  at First Congregational Church of Shrewsbury, 19 Church Road, Shrewsbury, MA on Sundays, August 4, August 25 and September 1 at 9:30 a.m. for performances of several of her compositions. Several area singers, including Soprano Christina White, Contralto Jeanine Vitale and Baritone Paul Dexter will be presenting in worship newly composed sacred song arrangements for solo voice and organ, which the composer envisions will be published in the not too distant future. Ms Walker’s music is well known both locally as well as nationally, and the FCC choirs have often performed and greatly admire her music. Gwyneth Walker’s arrangement of “How Can I keep From Singing” and “Chords of Love” are particular favorites, and “Chords of Love” is a frequently used for All Sate Choral Festivals as well as high school and middle school choral concerts across the country. One of the most widely performed and most published choral composers of our day, Ms Walker lives in Connecticut and also spends time in the summer in Vermont, a state in which she used to reside for many years.
