Shrewsbury, Massachusetts – Kevork H. ‘Kev’ Tevekelian, of Shrewsbury, died on Thursday, August 29, 2013 with family gathered by his side after a valiant 8 year battle with Multiple Myeloma. His life and the manner in which he approached his sickness and death is a testament to the person so many people loved.
Born on October 8, 1965 at Mt. Auburn Hospital in Cambridge he was the son of Kevork H. Tevekelian and Carol A. (Sarkisian) Tevekelian-Burnham. He was raised in Sudbury and graduated from Minuteman Technical High School in Lexington. He began work at Papa Gino’s in Concord where he rose to manager. He later worked in sales and training at Schwann’s Food Company. Kev also worked in sales for WXLO radio in Worcester. Above all else his passion was music and for the last 30 years he owned and operated Kev Tev Entertainment where he worked as a disc jockey.
On September 27, 1997 in Saint Mary’s Church in Franklin he married his best friend and love of his life, Jennifer E. Boudrot. They have enjoyed a wonderful life in Shrewsbury where Kev was an active member in the community. Kev always said his greatest accomplishment was being a Dad to his three boys, Andrew H. (age 11) and twins Derek R. and Kyle S. (age 9). Diagnosed in July 2006 with Multiple Myeloma, Kev lived each day to its fullest and packed so many memories in the hearts and minds of his boys and Jen. There wasn’t an event or sporting venue he wasn’t involved in with the boys. Anything Kev planned he put 110% into and made it such a memorable experience: from a simple dinner party with printed customized menus for family and friends to perhaps the world’s best lemonade stand ever built. All throughout his sickness and treatments Kev gave selflessly to others. It wasn’t about him. It was about making the best of each day and spending time with family and friends.
He loved life and was truly an inspiration to all who knew him. There wasn’t anywhere he went that he wouldn’t offer a hello, a smile or a kind word. He had a contagious and infectious sense of humor with a quick wit. Being the consummate entertainer, he wasn’t shy with crowds or around a microphone. Kev would light up a room and loved seeing people entertained and happy. He loved a good poker game or a challenging bet with his buddies, coaching his boys Little League and basketball teams, or emceeing events at the Spirit of Shrewsbury and Relay for Life. Abraham Lincoln was quoted “Live a good life…. for in the end it’s not the years in a life…. it’s the life in the years.”
His legacy and love lives on in the hearts of this family and friends: his wife, Jen; his boys, Andrew, Derek and Kyle; his mother, Carol Burnham and her husband, Brian, of Morehead City, NC, his father, Kevork Tevekelian and fiancé Sandra Boroyan of N. Chelmsford; his siblings, Joshua A. Tevekelian of Watertown, Janeen M. Bazarian of Ashland, Lisa J. Burnham of Shrewsbury, Alana E. Counts and her husband, Roger, of Morehead City, NC; his in-laws, Patricia (Lavender) Boudrot, Michael and Mark Boudrot and Michele Given, all of Concord; his uncle Gregory T. Tevekelian, his cousin Dawn Keller and her husband Charles of Newton; nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Family and friends will honor and remember Kev’s life by gathering for calling hours at Heald & Chiampa Funeral Directors ~ The Sumner House, 5 Church Road, On the Common, Shrewsbury Center, on Wednesday, September 4th from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. and again on Thursday morning in The First Congregational Church, 19 Church Road where his Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery.
