Mechanics Hall, 321 Main St, Worcester, MA
This stunning choral work by the Welsh composer, Karl Jenkins, was first premiered at Carnegie Hall in March 2012. This epic work celebrates peace using not only religious texts from the Bible, the Qur’an, St. Francis of Assisi and Bahá’u’llah, but also words of peace from great thinkers past and present, including Anne Frank, Gandhi, Martin Luther King, the Dalai Lama, Nelson Mandela, Albert Schweitzer, and Mother Teresa, among others. The Master Singers are proud to present the Massachusetts premiere of this epic work, joined by over 200 other performers, including area church choirs, the Worcester Children’s Chorus and the WPI Orchestra joined by soloists and third world instrumentalists. The concert also features the historic Hook Organ, known as the “Worcester Organ,” celebrating its 150th year at Mechanics Hall. This event is supported by an Alfred Nash Patterson Grant from Choral Arts New England, and grants from the Greater Worcester Community Foundation, and the Massachusetts Cultural Council.
