Shrewsbury, MA —House Minority Leader Bradley H. Jones, Jr. (R-North Reading) congratulated State Representative Hannah Kane, (R-Shrewsbury), for maintaining a perfect voting record for the first half of the 2017-2018 legislative session. The Shrewsbury legislator participated in all 305 roll call votes cast in the House of Representatives between January and November of 2017, compiling a 100% voting record.
Representative Kane cast votes this session on several key bills that were signed into law, including the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act, which requires employers to provide reasonable workplace accommodations for expectant and nursing mothers, as well as a proposal to double the one-time survivor benefits paid to the families of police, firefighters and other public safety officials killed in the line of duty, which was increased from $150,000 to $300,000.
Representative Kane also backed efforts to reimburse cities and towns for the costs associated with implementing the state’s early voting law during the November 2016 election cycle. The Division of Local Mandates in the State Auditor’s Office is currently in the process of collecting and certifying these costs.
“It is a tremendous honor to represent and advocate for Shrewsbury and Westborough on Beacon Hill and I come to each formal session prepared to discuss, debate and vote on the bills before us” said Representative Kane. “I will proudly continue to be a strong voice for the residents of the 11th Worcester District, working towards making the Commonwealth the best place to live, work, raise a family and retire”.
Representative Kane currently serves as the Ranking Minority Member on both the Joint Committee on Public Health and the Joint Committee on Marijuana Policy, in addition to being a member of the Joint Committee on Transportation.
