Shrewsbury Concert to Benefit the Massachusetts Children’s Fun

kate looking up 348x300 Shrewsbury Concert to Benefit the Massachusetts Childrens Fun Shrewsbury MassachusettsShrewsbury, Massachusetts – On August 3rd, at 6:30PM, we will be hosting a house concert with one of my favorite artists, the one and only Kate Klim. Kate has graced our town several times in the past, with sold out shows and wide acclaim, so I have no doubt this will be another fantastic night, as she and a special guest join us for an evening of soulful original music, interspersed with a level of fun that only Kate can bring to a venue.

100% of all proceeds go tot the Massachusetts Children’s Fund, a Shrewsbury based 501c3, which proved baby food and supplies children in need here in Worcester County.

Doors open at 5:30pm with a Showtime start of 6:30pm, and our hope is to limit it to 50-100 guests, although we easily had 150++ last time. I think we’re hoping for a bit more intimate of a settings this time around.

Tickets are available at a suggested donation of $15pp, but you are more than welcome to donate more, or less, in the form of a check made payable directly to the Massachusetts Children’s Fund. This will be a BYOB event, so feel free to bring along a bottle of wine, or perhaps some cookies, and we’ll have a blast. Those of you who have been to our house concerts in the past, know that it’s always a fantastic and low-key time.

To reserve you spot, please send your check, payable to the Massachusetts Children’s Fund to us at 63 Lamplighter Drive, Shrewsbury, MA 01545

Here’s a little video clip. Check it out, and you’ll see why, once you see Kate in person, you’ll be a fan for life!

With roots in Palatine, Illinois and Downingtown, Pennsylvania, Kate Kim was raised on a steady diet of Carole King, Paul Simon, Billy Joel and John Lennon. Later on, her influences grew to include Patty Griffin, Jonatha Brooke, and Chris Trapper. Kate’s musical success in her hometown led her to Berklee College of Music in Boston. It was here that Kate worked on her skills as a writer and performer, and became involved with the music community that had produced icons like Bob Dylan years before, and Tracy Chapman and Patty Griffin in the recent past. Within a few years of her debut as a singer/songwriter, she was opening for artists like Shawn Colvin, Lucy Kaplansky, Richard Shindell and Ollabelle.

Kate has been recognized by some of the country’s premier songwriting contests. She won the 2010 Kerrville New Folk competition, and was a finalist in the 2005 and 2006 Mountain Stage Newsong Contests, 2006 Mid-Atlantic Song Contest, 2007 Kerrville Newfolk Competition, 2007 Solarfest Competition, 2011 Telluride Troubadour Competition. She was also selected as a 2012 Emerging Artist by the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival.
