SHREWSBURY, Massachusetts – Shrewsbury Health & Racquet Club was the highest bidder on the Garden Party Host Committee at the Celebration in the Garden event that took place last month. The 5th annual event raised $50,000 for the Shrewsbury Public Schools, including over $10,000 in the live auction portion, where SHARC offered the winning bid on 2 hours of the committee’s planning expertise. The committee is comprised of 18 Shrewsbury community volunteers – Whitney Andrews, Brenda Buckley, Sarah Cole Camerer, Beth Casavant, Mary Casey, Christa Duprey, Melissa Pride-Fahs, Maureen Harrington, Hannah Kane, Kathleen Keohane, Heather Logrippo, Maribeth McCauley Lynch, Debra Page Mooney, Maria Munro, Kimberly Nobrega, Carrick O’Brien, Melanie Petrucci, and Caroline Schultz.
The committee is working with the owner of SHARC, Darline Thorp Yatim, to pull together a great event for the local community. SHARC hosts Friday night events after operating hours at the outdoor pool called, SHARC After Dark. Darline has asked the committee to focus their efforts in learning about the club, and its mission in order to promote and bring unique, non-member families to attend the event.
The event is free to all who wish to attend and will take place in the outdoor pool area, where there will be swimming and a pasta buffet. After the first hour, the kids and adults will part ways to enjoy exciting events planned for each. SHARC Staff has age appropriate activities for kids in Kindergarten through High School, while the adults can enjoy the musical talents of a Jimmy Buffet Cover Band.
Adult beverages will be served along with food and appetizers from the Bull Pen and Tiki Tea from LalaJava and other light snacks are available at guest expense. The events for the kids include an indoor pool party with glow necklaces, black lights, and music. Movie showings with appropriate ratings, opportunities for tennis, wallyball, dodgeball and SHARC Shake their newest dance class, are just some of the other activities that will be offered to the younger participants.
Registration will take place via email and with doing so, guests will obtain free admission. Raffle items will be available, and those ticket proceeds will be donated 50/50 to SEF (Shrewsbury Education Foundation) and SPSF (Shrewsbury Public Schools Foundation). SHARC is a huge supporter of the Schools and would like to continue to donate to such a great cause. Heart and Stone, Scizzors, SHARC and the Bull Pen have already offered donation items. Donations are welcome.
The event will take place on Friday, July 19th 6-10pm. To register email email@example.com, or call 508-845-1000 please include number of children and ages as well as number of adults.
