Shrewsbury Library received grant award

SHREWSBURY, Massachusetts – The Shrewsbury Public Library is very happy to announce that the English Conversation Circle project will be sustained through 2013 because of a generous $4,500 grant from the Greater Worcester Community Foundation. The English Conversation Circle project was started in Fall 2010 with the help of funds from a 2-year federal LSTA (Library Services and Technology Act) grant. They started offering four sessions a week – two for Beginners and two for Intermediate Learners. They’ve had a tremendous response from the community. The classes, facilitated by four experienced teachers, have been very popular. The participants in the Conversation Circles include immigrants from China, Korea, Japan, India, Iran, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Turkey, Colombia, Venezuela, Nicaragua, Mexico, Romania, Russia, Egypt and Libya. We also got a donation from Price Chopper’s Golub Foundation, which helped us continue the project through the end of 2012.

The schedule for the sessions is:
Class for Intermediate Learners – Tuesdays 2-3 PM
Class for Intermediate Learners – Wednesdays – 5-6 PM
Class for Beginners – Thursdays – 5-6 PM
Class for Beginners – Saturdays – 10:30-11:30 AM

Please drop by the Reference desk or call 508-841-8533 to register for the classes.
