Shrewsbury, Massachusetts – State Representative Hannah E. Kane (R-Shrewsbury) joined newly elected and re-elected members of the House of Representatives today at a swearing in ceremony at the State House in Boston. Governor Charlie Baker administered the oath of office to House members with the Lieutenant Governor, the State’s Constitutional Officers and members of the Governor’s Council in attendance.
“I am honored and humbled to have joined my colleagues this morning to renew my pledge to serve the residents of Shrewsbury and Westborough’s fourth and fifth precincts to the best of my ability. It is a tremendous responsibility and one that I take on with great pride and dedication,” said Representative Kane. “It has been nearly two years since I was first elected to office and it has been an incredible experience, I look forward to continuing to work hard to represent our wonderful communities in the House of Representatives.”
As part of the three hour session the members of the House of Representatives voted to re-elect Robert A. DeLeo (D-Winthrop) to serve as Speaker of the House. In a caucus of House Republican members held prior to the morning’s session, Bradley H. Jones, Jr. (R-Reading) was unanimously selected to continue his service as Minority Leader of the Republican House Caucus. Both members will serve in their leadership positions for the duration of the two year legislative session which began with today’s formal session.
