Shrewsbury, Massachusetts – Senator Michael O. Moore (D-Millbury) announced that Shrewsbury resident Jonjy Ananth was recently appointed by Senate President Stanley C. Rosenberg (D-Amherst) to serve as a member of the statewide Asian American Commission.
The Commission was established by statute in 2006 to serve as a resource on issues affecting Asian American communities in the state, and in recognition of the Asian American community’s contributions to the educational, economic, technological, and cultural wellbeing of the Commonwealth.
“I was pleased to support Jonjy’s appointment to serve in this capacity,” said Senator Moore. “Asian Americans constitute the fastest growing minority population in the state, as well as across the country. Jonjy continues to be an active member of the community and I am confident that he will work hard to advance the mission of the Commission.”
“I am honored and humbled to serve the people of the Commonwealth as a Commissioner with the Asian American Commission,” said Jonjy. “I will work to actively engage with our Asian American community to help strengthen the bonds between us and to celebrate our diverse Commonwealth.”
The Asian American Commission consists of eighteen members who are appointed to three-year terms. Jonjy will be officially sworn into office on February 17, 2017. To learn more about the important work being carried out by the Commission, please visit www.aacommission.org.
