SHREWSBURY, Massachusetts -2014 marks the 18th anniversary of the Spirit of Shrewsbury Fall Festival. WE NEED YOU! It will be traditionally held on the last weekend of September 27-28, however some events may happen on different days. Check the website at www.spiritofshrewsbury.org for a list of events. From its inception, the goal of the Spirit of Shrewsbury Fall Festival has been to provide an opportunity for our community to come together. There is no better place to do this than at the variety of events that the Festival offers. They are meant to provide a display for the town’s cultural and historic wealth and to celebrate all the ways local residents, organizations and businesses have been supporting each other since the town was first settled in 1727.
Past events include the ever-popular Knights of Columbus 5K Road Race, the Town Expo and Craft Fair, the well-known parade, scarecrow display, childrens’ fishing derby, on-going dancing fountains in Dean Park, the Shrewsbury Historical Society open house, the Artemas Ward Barn Museum Open House, car show, and a post-parade event.
The Spirit of Shrewsbury Fall Festival is a non-profit association. We have been able to finance these fantastic events through fundraising (banner and sponsorship sales, as well as advertising in the Festival’s Program Book). The people organizing these events are all volunteers and we are blessed to have a team of dedicated people who have been faithful to helping organize the Festival over the years.
As you may imagine, organizing a festival of such magnitude requires a lot of time and a lot of volunteers. We are thankful for the team of dedicated volunteers through the years, from adults to high school and middle school-aged students. Unfortunately, volunteers do come and go while the Festival continues to grow. The Spirit of Shrewsbury Fall Festival will not be able to continue if we do not get help from the community. We are currently looking for volunteers to help with the 2014 events. We would love to welcome anyone interested in sharing their gifts of time and talents. Many hands make less work! And the work is definitely a lot of fun! Please help us make the Festival possible by participating, giving a few hours of your time while meeting many people in the community. Businesses and non-profits are more than welcome to join the team by volunteering and/or sponsoring an event.
Please join us in helping to make the Spirit of Shrewsbury Fall Festival the best ever. How can you help? Be a sponsor, buy a banner, hold an event, advertise in the program book, and/or become a volunteer. WE NEED YOU!
