Fantastic Beasts 3 will finally hit theaters in summer 2022 instead of November 2021. Warner Bros. today announced the postponement following the departure of Johnny Depp.
It is precisely the departure of Johnny Depp who postpones the film. The actor played the character of Gellert Grindelwald in the first two films. He should be back in the third installment, but Warner Bros. chose otherwise. “Warner Bros asked me to step down from my role as Grindelwald in Fantastic Beasts, and I respected and accepted that request,” says Johnny Depp on Instagram. Gellert Grindelwald will be fine in Fantastic Beasts 3, but with a new actor.
What is the reason for leaving? Johnny Depp is in the middle of a lawsuit with ex-partner Amber Head over mutual domestic violence. The actor recently lost a libel suit against The Sun. Apparently, Warner Bros. felt that this was enough to rule out the Fantastic Beasts 3 actor.
Warner Bros. has not yet said who will replace Johnny Deep in Fantastic Beasts 3. In any case, the studio would like to thank the person who played Gellert Grindelwald on screen.
As a reminder, the Fantastic Beasts franchise takes place in the Harry Potter universe. The story takes place a few decades before the arrival of the famous wizard.
