Free’s parent company regained its colors in the third quarter of 2020. Ilias posted sustained growth with sales of 1.4 billion euros (France and Italy), up 6.3% over the period. The main factor behind the acceleration in sales is that the recruitment of regular customers is increasing sharply. Free has once again become the operator with the highest number of new fixed-line subscribers in France, with 99,000 additional subscribers in the quarter. Ilias states that the massive arrival of these new subscribers is largely due to the success of the Freebox Pop and a rebound in demand for the Freebox Delta.

The fiber division had a record 299,000 new subscribers for the quarter for a total of 2.5 million fiber subscribers. In terms of network coverage, Ilias claims to insure 97.8% of the population on 4G. In the third quarter, 500 new mobile locations were provided and 1,300 700 MHz locations were equipped. In Italy the pace is even faster: 770 mobile sites were deployed in one quarter, for a total of more than 5,000 active sites. The group eventually recalls its intention to buy out the Polish mobile operator Play.
