S Translator, the translation tool for Samsung Galaxy phones, will expire on December 1st, 2020. Samsung announces that those who still benefit today will have to choose an alternative.
Samsung announced the discontinuation of S Translator via message, immediately for Korean users only. The group states that personal data collected from users to improve the service will be deleted immediately. Samsung also thanked users for their interest in and use of the service over the years. The tool provided translations in 11 languages: Brazilian Portuguese, English (UK), English (US), French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Russian, Simplified Chinese, and Spanish.
Bixby is in a sense the successor to S Translator
This assignment definitely shows that Samsung continues to draw a line with its “historical” services. The brand recently discontinued its S Voice voice assistant.
Despite the discontinuation of S Translator, users with a Galaxy already have access to an alternative translation service. It’s with Samsung Bixby. The voice assistant can translate texts from one language to another. It supports more languages and has a better user experience than S Translator. In addition, Bixby supports real-time translation with the camera. Google Translate does the same.
