The inventory issues for the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S will still be relevant in 2021. The announcement was made today by Tim Stuart, Microsoft’s CFO.
The stock will still be complicated for the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series in the first quarter of 2021. Tim Stuart expects the situation to improve from the second quarter. He expects supply to match demand at this point. Microsoft’s CFO explains that the production factories are running at full speed. Unfortunately, Microsoft cannot produce enough consoles.
That begs the question for December: will it be possible to buy an Xbox Series X or Xbox Series S for Christmas? Perhaps. It won’t be easy anyway (especially for the Xbox Series X). Consoles may not be on every Christmas tree on December 25th. Other than that, the scenario on Sony’s side with the PlayStation 5 should be similar.
At the time of this writing, the Xbox Series S is available on Amazon and will ship through late November. Fnac also states that it has inventory, as does Cdiscount. However, no reseller has inventory for the Xbox Series X.
Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S will be available on November 10th. Microsoft has already said this is the biggest console launch.
